…Experts call for Global South alliances with China, Russia, and Türkiye over Western partnerships
The Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Conference, organised by the Centre for National Strategy (USMER), has issued a declaration urging nations to move towards a multipolar world order and reduce reliance on Western powers.
The two-day conference, held on 18–19 July, gathered 28 scholars, policymakers, and experts from over 12 countries to discuss sovereignty, self-determination, and security challenges in the region. The participants criticised sanctions, proxy wars, and military interventions by Western countries, describing them as tools to maintain regional dominance.
Doğu Perinçek, Chairman of Turkey’s Vatan Party, in his keynote speech, said, “Humanity must unite in opposition to the destructive ambitions of the American-Israeli axis.” He identified American imperialism, Israeli Zionism, and Ukrainian nationalism as destabilising factors.
Ayhan Bilgen, a former MP, said NATO expansion posed “a central global threat” and urged Türkiye to “end its association with the alliance”. Representatives from China, Russia, Iran, Egypt, and Palestine also voiced support for forming regional alliances to counter ethnic and religious persecution.
The conference’s final declaration called on Global South nations to reject what it described as unequal partnerships with Western powers and to build cooperative relationships with countries such as China, Russia, and Türkiye.
The Centre for National Strategy (USMER) said the declaration supports its goal of promoting dialogue on sovereignty, independence, and equitable partnerships in global relations.
