Berger Paints Nigeria plc has opened a new Colour World Centre in Lekki, Lagos, in a bid to save its customers the stress of coming to the mainland to meet their products requirements.
Addressing stakeholders in the construction industry and the media at the inauguration recently, Tor Nygard, managing director of the company, said the new centre would enhance accessibility, visibility and availability of its products to its customers living in the Lekki axis of Lagos.
Nygard said the centre would also serve as a channel for distributing the whole range of Berger’s products as well as produce variety of colours to customers’ specifications with its tinting machine facility, saying “it is a ‘one-stop shop” for all painting needs.
The available at the Lekki Colour World Centre are Berger’s well-known brands such as Luxol, Clinstay, Super Star, Classic, among others, which continued to enjoy extreme popularity across Nigeria, according to the managing director.
Also speaking at the event, Clement Olowokande, chairman of the company, said the Lekki Colour World, was the first to be commissioned by the company after it turned 55 years in Nigeria on January 9, 2014, adding that the company was built to last forever.
He advised existing and potential customers not to use inferior paint products to paint their buildings, because less quality products affect the walls of the building and was more expensive to correct in the long run.
According to Olowokande, Berger Paints would soon become the first paint company in West Africa to automate its factory, as the company wants to arrive in the future ahead of competition.
The company has embarked on the full automation project following the successful outcome of its recent rights issue, which was oversubscribed despite investors’ apathy in the Nigerian capital market.
The centre was endorsed by Donald Obaseki, managing director of Guaranty Structure Properties, and Sonia Mmamelu, who represented the managing director of Zenith Bank plc, among others.
In his comment, Obaseki enjoined customers to patronise Berger Paints because of the high quality of its products. Berger Paints commenced operations in Nigeria on January 9, 1959. The company is the first paints manufacturing company quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
