The Imande Avur Community in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State is reeling from another brutal attack by marauding herdsmen that claimed two more lives.
Elder Abur Alam and his son Ikyaa were killed in the early hours of Thursday, sparking widespread fear and displacement as the people continue to flee for safety.
The latest attack was the third in a week, with nine farmers and security personnel previously murdered in Udeku Village, Maav-ya also in Turan Community. The sustained violence has claimed 11 lives, with many more injured or displaced.
Lawrence Akerigba, a community elder in the area, described the situation in a statement as devastating, saying the attacks have become frequent and unchecked.
“Enough is enough,” he said, alleging complicity and lack of timely intervention by the authorities.

Akerigba lamented that no arrests have been made, and affected families receive no support.
“Our people are helpless, going from one community to another in search of safety,” he said.
According to him, “The attacks have destroyed properties worth billions of Naira, including schools, health facilities, churches, and markets. Women, children, and the aged have not been spared.
“The people of Turan are crying out for help, pleading with the government to take immediate action to stop the attacks and ensure justice. We can no longer endure this bloodshed.
“The situation demands urgent attention, because the communities are living in constant fear. The government’s response will be a test of its commitment to protecting citizens’ lives and property,” Akerigba said.
The people of Turan demand justice and an end to the seemingly endless violence. It’s time for the authorities to act and not just mere promises.
Efforts to get confirmation from the Police spokesperson, Udeme Edet, failed as she neither picked her calls nor replied text messages sent to her phone.
