Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Monday charged two new permanent secretaries in the state civil service to be true champions of the positive that his administration represents. The new appointees are Olayiwole Onasanya and Olumide Lawal.
Ambode gave the charge during the swearing in of the two permanent secretaries, adding that as drivers of ministries and agencies of government, their role was crucial in the continued delivery of his administration’s promises to the people.
The governor, who described the appointment as a testament to reinvigorate the machinery of government, the new permanent secretaries must hit the ground running.
He reminded them that they now occupy very important position, and that they must show leadership as people were eagerly waiting to see the direct and indirect impact of government policies and programmes they must drive.
“Leadership at any level of human organisation, especially at this challenging time, requires innovation, creativity and resource management. Our new appointees are therefore enjoined to immediately hit the ground running, as our people are eager to see the direct and indirect impact of government policies and programmes.
“Let me state that our civil and public servants are agents of change and enablers of government policies. The permanent secretaries are therefore the mirror, which reflects the quality of service our civil servants are offering,” the governor said.
Lawal, one of the new appointees while responding, thanked Ambode for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their support to the programmes and policies of the administration, saying, “We are determined to join the fast moving train which the governor has put in place and we shall not disappoint.”
