Simplaa, a UK-headquartered global mobility company, has launched its ride-hailing service in Port Harcourt to create more income opportunities for drivers while expanding transport choices for commuters.

The launch comes as Nigeria celebrates 65th Independence Day, with Simplaa introducing offers aimed at first-time users and drawing attention in a market long dominated by global and regional operators.

As part of its Independence Day launch, the company said it will provide ride credits to early users in Port Harcourt, while new app downloads across the country will also attract trial credits. The initiative, Simplaa noted, is intended to attract first-time users to test the platform.

According to the company, the platform offers upfront pricing, multiple payment options and driver verification features, reflecting a wider push among ride-hailing operators to improve safety and convenience as competition deepens.

The company added that it has been operating in the UK and other markets since 2018, and plans to extend its services in Nigeria beyond city rides to include airport logistics and executive transfers, with a longer-term goal of expanding across major cities.

Simplaa said its Nigerian operations are run through its subsidiary, Simplaa One Technology, which mirrors its UK operations.

The firm noted that the Port Harcourt launch followed months of planning, infrastructure development, driver training and the integration of secure payment systems.

Simplaa stated that it is also investing in local drivers and staff, with training designed to meet international service standards, while creating income opportunities through its operations in Nigeria.

“We are investing in Nigerian drivers and the Nigerian people who engage in our internal operations, training them to international service standards, and creating sustainable income opportunities.

“We are also bringing in our proven expertise in airport logistics and executive transfers, which means soon, Simplaa riders will be prominent in every street in Nigeria. Riders should be able to travel seamlessly between airports, cities and premium destinations nationwide,” the company stated.
