Ethical leadership tops NECCI’s agenda for national development

As Nigeria grapples with complex challenges, from governance and economic reform to public trust, NECCI is championing the push for PR professionals to go beyond image-making and become architects of ethical leadership and sustainable progress.

In a rapidly evolving socio-political landscape, the importance of ethical leadership and transparent communication has never been more critical in driving national development.

Nkechi Ali-Balogun, founder/convener NECCI PR Roundtable 2025, said, “The gathering promises to set the agenda for ethical leadership, national development, and the strategic role of public relations in shaping reputation over the next decade.”

Speaking on the milestone, Ali-Balogun emphasised that the 25th anniversary of NECCI PR Roundtable is not just a celebration of longevity, but a reaffirmation of the organisation’s commitment to fostering ethical governance and strengthening Nigeria’s reputation in the global space.

“The conversations at this year’s summit will chart the next course for leaders, institutions, and communicators in building a future anchored on trust, transparency, and accountability,” she noted.

The event billed to hold on Thursday, October 23, at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, is poised to experience the convergence of Nigeria’s most influential leaders, policymakers, and communicators.

According to the convener, “This silver jubilee edition will be marked with a landmark summit on the theme: ‘The Ethics of Governance: Shaping Reputation through Public Relations.”

Besides, Ali-Balogun explained that the event will feature keynote addresses, high-level panel discussions, and strategic dialogues with participation from government leaders, industry captains, communication experts, civil society, and the media.

“The summit is expected to set the agenda for how ethics and reputation can drive national renewal in an era of heightened public scrutiny and global competition,” she noted.

The roundtable will feature an impressive lineup of speakers drawn from diverse sectors. Among them are; John Momoh, chairman of Channels TV; Abiodun Adeniyi, a professor, and renowned media scholar at Mass Communication Department of Baze University; Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, executive head of regional marketing and communication at Standard Bank Group.

Also included are Tokunboh George-Taylor, managing director/chief executive officer of Skot Communications;. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM); Femi Adesina, former special adviser on media and publicity to the President of Nigeria;. Obinna Ezeobi, a corporate strategist and public affairs analyst,.

Others are Lampe Omoyele, managing director at Nitro 121, a marketing and advertising firm; Chizor Malize, managing director/chief executive officer of the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC); Alice Ajeh, a veteran journalist and corporate communication expert; Soromidayo George, corporate relations & communications director at Unilever West Africa; and Yakubu Lamai, governance advisor and policy expert.

The NECCI PR Roundtable, founded in 2000, has remained one of the nation’s premier annual gathering dedicated to advancing the frontiers of public relations practice in Nigeria and Africa.

Over the years, it has become a trusted platform for fostering dialogue between policymakers, business leaders, and communication professionals, offering actionable insights for governance, corporate strategy, and national development.
