The Katsina State Police command has confirmed the kidnapping of a couple and their daughter in the state capital metropolitan area.
The victims were identified as Anas Ahmed, his wife, Halimatu, and their little daughter from the Katsina metropolitan area.
The incident occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at about 3am in Flilin Kanana community, located in Sabuwar Unguwa, Kofar Kaura area of the state capital.
The bandits also killed a local security guard who was said to be patrolling the community when the incident occurred.
The incident was said to have caused palpable tension amongst residents, many of whom were worried that bandits were becoming emboldened to come into the state capital to carry out nefarious activities.

Tuesday’s incident comes a few days after the daredevil bandits stormed Unguwan Mantau community in Malumfashi Local Government Area where they killed more than 40 worshippers in a mosque.
Worried about the recent increase in the security challenge, acting governor of the state, Lawal Jobe called on the federal government to improve the state’s security architecture so that the problem can be effectively tackled.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu while confirming the incident said CP Bello Shehu visited the scene, deployed additional resources for prompt rescue of victims and arrest of perpetrators.
According to him, “Today, Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at about 0300 hrs, some suspected gunmen armed with dangerous weapons attacked the residence of one Anas Ahmadu, m, age 33, of Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina State, kidnapping him, his wife, and his daughter one Jidda Anas. Also the hoodlums fatally shot one Abdullahi Muhammad, m, age 25, of the same address, a member of the local vigilante, and escaped the scene before the arrival of police operatives”.
