Ikeja court dismisses case against Emmason, passenger accused of unruly conduct on Ibom Air flight

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday discharged Comfort Emmason of charges bordering on unruly behaviour and assaulting the flight crew aboard an Ibom Air aircraft from Uyo to Lagos on Monday.

Olanrewaju Salami, struck out the five-count charge after the police prosecution team formally withdrew the case.

At the resumed hearing, the prosecutor, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, informed the court of new developments that necessitated the withdrawal. She tendered an application to that effect, which the court admitted and granted.

The incident occurred on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air Flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos at 14:54 hours. According to the airline, Emmason allegedly refused to switch off her mobile phone during take-off, in violation of international aviation safety regulations.

The confrontation reportedly escalated into physical assaults on both the flight crew and ground staff after landing at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
