A former Nigerian vice president and presidential hopeful under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, says his administration will deliver on various plans and policies but not promises that will get the country working again.
Abubakar, 72 who made this claim while delivering on the launching of his book “my plan to get Nigeria working again”, said over the last 18 months, he has worked with the best experts the country have to offer to come up with policies and plans, that when implemented will create jobs, reduce maternal mortality, increase investment and tackle the country’s failing infrastructure.
“I have succeeded in running my private enterprises which now employ about 50,000 Nigerians because I believed in policies and I have the discipline to stay with until they become reality”, Atiku said
“I am not talking of what I can do but I am talking of what I have done. When I was the vice president, from 1999-2007, I chaired the national economic council that gave Nigeria her highest and most consistent GDP growth of 6 percent per annum despite the fact that crude oil at that time was much lower than it now.”
Speaking on the plans and policies that he has to get Nigeria working again, the former VP said “it is a plan that will get Nigeria workers a living wage, a plan that will give Nigerian youth a world class education, a plan that will empower Nigerian women to reduce maternal mortality and increase their financial stability, a plan that will carter or the elderly so our people are not afraid of growing old and plan that will invest in our failing infrastructure.”
