Atalanta have reportedly left Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman out of their 23-man squad for the opening match of the 2025/26 season against Pisa.
This decision is the latest development in the ongoing transfer saga that has dominated the club’s summer.

Lookman had publicly pushed for a move to Inter Milan, going so far as to take a two-week unauthorised absence from training.
His actions were a response to Atalanta’s rejection of a €45 million bid from Inter, which the club’s CEO, Luca Percassi, later confirmed was not the “right” offer they were looking for. Lookman had accused the club of “breaking promises” and treating him poorly.
The move to Inter ultimately collapsed, leaving Lookman to return to Atalanta, where he is currently training individually and has been excluded from the official matchday squad.
The decision highlights the strained relationship between the player and the club.
The forward is now training individually and was excluded from Atalanta’s squad for Sunday’s clash.
Meanwhile, new arrivals Nikola Krstovic, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and 17-year-old Honest Ahanor have all been named in the matchday squad.
