Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has expressed his delight after sealing a £24 million transfer to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a four-year deal.
The 24-year-old forward, who scored 21 goals in the Belgian Pro League last season to win the Golden Boot with Genk, joins Wolves as the club look to strengthen their attack after a difficult start to the campaign.
Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League, having lost their opening three matches.
Arokodare is expected to provide vital attacking support to Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was the subject of failed bids from Newcastle United worth up to £55m earlier this month.
Speaking at his unveiling, Arokodare said he was excited to finally make the step into English football.
“I think I’ll fit in pretty good,” he said. “The Premier League is a league full of physicality, high intensity, and a lot of runs, and I think I’m that kind of player. I think I’m strong, and I’m fast.
Obviously, the first few games and weeks won’t be the easiest, but it’s a challenge that I think I’m ready for.”
The Super Eagles striker added that England had always been a dream destination for him.
“It was time already. I had my mind set here. This is where I wanted to be, because I played in Germany, France, and Belgium, and I think it was just here missing. Finally, I’m happy to be here.”
Arokodare also admitted he was still working on his fitness, but is determined to hit the ground running.
Arokodare scored 41 goals in 113 appearances for Genk after joining from Latvian side Valmiera in 2023. He previously had spells with FC Köln in Germany and Amiens in France, and has one goal in four appearances for Nigeria.
