Soldiers of the 6-Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, have arrested 71 suspected oil thieves and destroyed 14 illegal refining sites, in a latest push to eliminate the menace of oil theft in the Niger Delta.
This was as Eric Emekah, Major General and General Officer Commanding 6 Division, commended informants for their support in providing “actionable information that has helped significantly in the fight against oil theft in the region.”

According to Danjuma Jonah, lieutenant colonel and spokesman of the 6 Division Nigerian Army, the operations were conducted between July 27 and August 10, 2025, in Rivers, Bayelsa and other areas of the Niger Delta.
The Army recovered 33,00O litres of stolen products during the operations across the oil-rich region.

Jonah said that GOC also commended 6 Div troops for recording yet another milestone in the crackdown against economic saboteurs.
Emekah, however, renewed his warnings to criminals to turn a new leaf, stressing that anyone caught stealing the nation’s commonwealth would be prosecuted by the law.
