Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has condemned a statement allegedly credited to Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, calling for a violent protest as a means to change the current government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly and a key figure in the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), warned political leaders, particularly from the opposition, against actions and utterances capable of destabilising the nation’s peace and democratic process.
He expressed deep concern over the rising political tension in the country, which he attributed to inflammatory remarks and agitations by some opposition figures.

According to him, with nearly two years until the next general elections, it is premature and dangerous for politicians to be inciting unrest through reckless rhetoric.
“Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, calling for violent protests for a change of government ahead of the 2027 elections, was unpatriotic,”
He acknowledged that political coalitions are a normal feature in democratic settings but emphasised that they must not be used as a tool to incite citizens against the government or disrupt national stability.
“We don’t have any other country except Nigeria, and it would be unwise to destroy it with our utterances and unguided actions due to power hunger.

“What the country needs now is patriotic leaders who can support the present administration to work together in building a better future, create wealth, sustain peace, stability and progress,” he said.
He urged all political stakeholders to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the collective effort to build a stable, prosperous nation, rather than heating up the polity for selfish interests.
Oyintiloye called on opposition leaders to act responsibly and contribute positively to nation-building, warning that continued political agitation could lead to unrest and erode the gains of democracy.
