The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of exploiting the recent killings in Malumfashi, Katsina State, for partisan gain, describing the opposition’s remarks as “insensitive, crassly opportunistic, and in extremely bad taste.”
The ADC, in a statement on Sunday, said the spate of attacks showed Nigeria’s security architecture was “crumbling.”
Responding on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said it was unacceptable for any party to use such a tragedy to score political points rather than stand in solidarity with grieving families and security forces confronting terrorism.
“It is a national tragedy when innocent and law-abiding citizens are cut down by forces of evil and terror,” Morka said. “Events like this call on all of us, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation, to stand together as one to defeat these soulless forces of terror.”
He dismissed the ADC’s call for President Bola Tinubu to remain permanently in the country to anticipate terrorist attacks as “remarkably lame and senseless,” adding that the party’s “false narratives and obscene propaganda” explained its poor showing in recent bye-elections.

“The ADC has enough Atiku-mess on its hands and should focus on fixing itself rather than chasing shadows,” Morka added.
The APC also defended Tinubu’s foreign trips, arguing that they are critical to attracting investment and strengthening international security cooperation. Citing a recent joint Nigeria–Chad operation that led to the capture of Boko Haram founder Mohammed Yusuf’s son and two Ansaru leaders, Morka said such results underscored the importance of global partnerships.
According to the ruling party, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated consistent commitment to security through increased defence spending, deployment of special forces, new technology in crisis-prone areas, and a review of the National Security Strategy.
“While the ADC engages in worthless rhetoric, the APC-led administration is actively working with security agencies to track down the perpetrators of these dastardly acts and restore safety to our people,” the statement read.
The APC urged Nigerians to support ongoing security initiatives, stressing that the fight against terrorism required collective responsibility, not “mischievous political theatrics.”
