In a move set to enhance local capacity and drive innovation across Nigeria’s energy and industrial sectors, AOS Orwell and global technology giant ABB have renewed their commitment to technology transfer and localisation during a strategic visit by ABB India’s President of Electrification, Kiran Dutt, to AOS Orwell’s Lagos office.
The high-level visit focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between both companies, with a shared goal of deploying intelligent electrification, automation, and digital solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique industrial landscape, particularly in the oil & gas, power, and manufacturing sectors.
Dutt, who also leads ABB’s Smart Power and Smart Building businesses across India, Africa, Bangladesh, and cluster countries, was accompanied by a delegation from ABB India.
The team engaged in discussions aimed at expanding local support capabilities, accelerating technology transfer, and empowering Nigerian professionals with advanced technical knowledge.
Receiving the delegation, Akeem Ariyo, Managing Director of AOS Orwell, emphasised the local benefits of the partnership.
“We are very intentional about the OEMs we partner with for the benefit of our customers. Our collaboration with ABB isn’t just about products, it’s about building capacity, transferring knowledge, and delivering sustainable technology solutions that create long-term value for Nigeria,” Ariyo said.
Anand Bhatia, Country Director of AOS Orwell’s Process Management Division, highlighted the strategic significance of the visit, noting that it reaffirms AOS Orwell’s position as the primary channel for ABB technologies in Nigeria.
“This visit underscores ABB’s confidence in our local capabilities and affirms our role as a conduit for world-class, original ABB technologies. With strong local support, we’re not just delivering solutions, we’re developing the ecosystem needed to sustain them,” he added.
The partnership aims to bridge the technology gap in Nigeria by ensuring that cutting-edge ABB technologies are not only accessible but also maintained and optimised by locally trained professionals. It also aligns with Nigeria’s broader industrialisation goals by prioritising skills development, knowledge exchange, and sustainable infrastructure growth.
