The 35-year-old Olympic gold winner has been out of the ring since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, a defeat that raised questions about his future in the sport. However, Joshua appears determined to stage a comeback and regain his place among boxing’s elite.
His jog in Lagos comes amid reports from his promoter Eddie Hearn suggesting that potential opponents for his return include Tyson Fury, a Dubois rematch, Joseph Parker, Deontay Wilder, and Martin Bakole.
Joshua’s recent years have been marked by highs and lows. He lost his titles to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and failed to reclaim them in their 2022 rematch.
Now, in what could be the twilight of his storied career, the boxer is showing signs of renewed focus—beginning with the streets of Lagos.
