The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Anambra State chapter has rejected any planned coalition talks with other political parties.
In a communique signed by the party’s state chairman, Chidi Chidebe, after an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) on Thursday, the party strongly advised its members and stakeholders to avoid involvement in any such coalition activities.
The statement clarified that the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) has not engaged in any coalition discussions, and as such, the Anambra PDP is not part of any coalition talks.
It urged members to remain focused and supportive of the national leadership, the Board of Trustees, the PDP Governors’ Forum, and other key stakeholders working to reposition the party.
The party emphasised that unauthorised coalition activities lack legitimacy and have no approval from either state or national leadership.
It warned that any member participating in such activities would be considered engaged in anti-party conduct.
“Any State, Local Government, or Ward officer found involved with unauthorized coalition groups will be deemed to have left the party, and their positions will be declared vacant immediately,” it noted.
The Anambra PDP also expressed solidarity with senior party leaders, including Sen. Ben Ndi Obi, the Southeast Zonal Leader, Gov. Peter Mba, and the national leadership. It praised their efforts in promoting peace, unity, and restoring the PDP as a key political force in Nigeria.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, unity, and democratic values, urging members to stay loyal and vigilant as they work towards a stronger, victorious PDP.
