What is truly baffling is how Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the French-born former managing director of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), could single-handedly turn such a powerful financial institution into what became, at least under his regime, International Monetary Fun! He just liked to have fun – wild parties, dubious women, sex orgies, plus vintage wine and exotic champagne were allegedly his staple diet. It is said that he just could not get enough of them regardless of whether he was in the United States of America (Washington DC; New York); France (Paris; Lille); Italy (Rome; Venice); etc, but never Britain!
His intellectual capability was never in doubt. Neither was his incisive knowledge of the intricacies of global financial markets as well as complex economic issues anything but first class. However, when it came to matters of the flesh, he appeared fatally flawed – totally at variance with his super brain.
Here are a few snippets from the Edward Snowden dossier on Strauss-Kahn:
“Former IMF director and French presidential hopeful Dominique Strauss-Kahn denied knowing that women he had sex orgies with in Paris, Lille and Washington DC were prostitutes and accused the prosecution of exaggerating their number at a trial in the northern French city on Tuesday. Strauss-Kahn is accused of ‘aggravated pimping’.”
Breaking News on Al Jazeera:
“The ex-wife of former International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn whose career was beset by a series of sexual scandals, says she was unaware of his infamous extramarital affairs in her most in-depth interview ever on the subject. Three years after the onetime French presidential contender was arrested for an alleged rape in New York City, his ex-wife of 22 years, journalist Anne Sinclair has spoken in an exclusive interview with France TV set to air Tuesday night.”
Breaking News on Bloomberg:
“Disgraced IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn is embroiled in a new sex-related legal case. But this time he is suing a pimp for opening a brothel using his initials, DSK, claiming that it is a slur on his reputation.”
Even the ultra-liberal French became wary of the escapades of Strauss-Kahn. Here was a guy who could easily have become the president of France but he just blew it all away! If he was not looking for trouble, trouble with women was lurking around him.
In desperation, the French came up with a cure. What he needed was a Nigerian lady to sort him out. He was sent a photograph and bio-data of a suitable candidate who turned out to be on the front page of The Nation newspaper of February 12, 2015. Headline: “Policewoman Disarms Two Suspected Robbers”:
“A policewoman, on Tuesday, in Lagos disarmed two men who attempted to rob her and her companion on their way home. Sergeant Mercy John, a non-commissioned officer (NCO), was said to have refused the suspected robbers’ orders to lie face down and submit her bag. She is attached to the Post Office, State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.”
It was left to The Sun newspaper of February 12, 2015 to deliver the verdict of Anthony Cardinal Okogie. Headline: “Strauss-Kahn And Nigeria Bedevilled By Demons”.
Some women were so enraged by Strauss-Khan’s escapades that they bared their chests and strutted braless in front of television cameras at his trial in Lille, France. The charges against him of gang rape in Washington, United States of America were dropped in October 2012, but when he appeared on CNN as a guest of Richard Quest he remained unremorseful and unrepentant.
“And my mistake was certainly to believe that you can have these two things (public office and private life) together without any connection between. It was wrong. It was wrong in the way you say because people are not expecting this kind of heterodox behavior from somebody having public responsibility.”
This only infuriated the women further. In America, a caller shocked Jon Stewart, the host of the “Daily Show” on Comedy Central, by recommending the Chinese treatment. Headline: “China Executes Mining Tycoon”.
It turns out that it is not only in China that life is cheap. It’s the same story in Zimboda where, according to Daily Independent newspaper of February 10, 2015, “30-year-old man commits murder over N200 (US$1), remanded in Ikoyi Prison”.
Tragically, the line between guilt and innocence has become blurred. Confirmation of this phenomenon has been provided by the front page headline of Daily Sun of February 12, 2015: “We Are Cultists, Not Robbers, Suspect Tells Police”.
Those who were thoroughly bored by the marathon “Oscar Award Night” on both CNN and Sky News were compensated with the riveting hour-long programme on Al Jazeera and Fox News with an alternative “Oscar” being awarded to Dominique Strauss-Kahn. It was mostly based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning report by The Telegraph: Headline: “Dominique Strauss-Kahn Accuser Builds Restaurant And New Life In New York”.
In a determined effort to advertise its unique professionalism and commitment to exceptionalism/excellence, The Times delivered the following verdicts: (i) “Strauss-Kahn Rented Orgy Flat In False Name”; (ii) “I’m Rougher Than Most Men In Bed, Says Strauss-Kahn”.
It was reported that Dominique Strauss-Kahn snapped furiously in court at suggestions that sex parties he attended were “butchery” and “carnage”, although he admitted he was “rougher” than average men during sex.
The former head of the International Monetary Fund was accused by another former prostitute of sodomising her without her consent and taking part in an orgy with 40 women. The woman, named Jade, told the court in Lille that Strauss-Kahn, 65, must have known she was a prostitute and not as a willing partner as he had claimed.
Throughout the case so far, Strauss-Kahn has been accompanied by his partner, Myriam L’Aouffir, a French television executive, with whom he has been in a relationship since 2012 when he split up with his ex-wife, Anne Sinclair.
The trial continues.
