Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team is yet to receive the $100,000 reward and other benefits promised by the Federal Government following their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) victory in Morocco.
Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade revealed that despite assurances from authorities, none of the pledges, including match bonuses, have been fulfilled.

“We have not received our money. All the promises, we have not received anything. People are begging. Even our match bonuses… everything is still a work in progress,” she lamented.
Ajibade said the players had been told the funds were already allocated, but insisted nothing had reached them.
In July 2025, following the Super Falcons’ record-extending 10th WAFCON title, President Bola Tinubu announced a $100,000 cash reward for each player, along with other incentives, praising the team for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage”.
Ajibade has now urged the government to honour its promises, warning that the prolonged delay is taking a toll on the players.
