A new ranking of the ten best AI chatbots highlights how competition in the sector is intensifying, with established players consolidating their dominance and newer entrants making rapid gains.
The analysis, based on data from Semrush, Muckrack, aitools.xyz, and app stores, assessed visibility, momentum, and user experience. Metrics included web traffic, media mentions, growth rates, market share, session duration, and app store reviews. Collectively, the top ten platforms recorded 55.88 billion annual visits, with users spending an average of 13 minutes per session. They also drew more than 40 million reviews, averaging a 9.23 rating.

While ChatGPT remains the market leader, challengers such as Grok, Gemini, and DeepSeek are expanding quickly, underscoring a shift away from single-player dominance. The findings suggest chatbot competition is being reshaped in real time, as user engagement and growth accelerate across multiple platforms.

1. ChatGPT
ChatGPT remains far ahead of competitors with a final score of 0.81. It drew 46.59 billion annual visits, giving it almost half of the total traffic share. With over 2.4 million media citations and 26.2 million app store reviews, its reach is unmatched. Users spent an average of 15 minutes per session, showing its continued central role in the chatbot space.
2. Grok
Grok, developed by xAI, surged into second place with a score of 0.42. Despite a smaller traffic share of 1.17 per cent, its momentum is staggering. Annual visits rose by more than 1.3 million per cent to 686.9 million. With 319,500 media citations and 1.4 million reviews, Grok has quickly become a challenger to the established leaders.

3. Gemini
Gemini holds third place with 1.66 billion annual visits and a score of 0.32. Backed by 1.8 million media citations and 9.4 million reviews, Gemini’s growth of 156 per cent year-on-year reflects Google’s strength in pushing its AI products across multiple platforms.
4. Claude
Claude recorded 1.15 billion visits, growing 201 per cent annually. Its score of 0.27 reflects not only solid momentum but also deep user engagement, with the longest average session duration of 16 minutes 44 seconds. With a 9.4 rating, it shows how strong design can keep users engaged.

5. DeepSeek
DeepSeek attracted 2.74 billion visits, giving it the second-highest traffic share at 3.96 per cent. Growth soared to 48,848 per cent year-on-year, but monthly visits slipped slightly. With a score of 0.24 and an app rating of 8.0, its scale is undeniable, though user satisfaction lags behind others.
6. Perplexity
Perplexity continues to grow, reaching 1.47 billion visits and a 227 per cent annual increase. Its average session lasts 13 minutes 14 seconds, suggesting meaningful use. With 1.1 million reviews and a 9.6 rating, it ranks sixth with a score of 0.23, placing it among the most user-friendly tools.

7. Microsoft Copilot
With 957.2 million visits and a 348 per cent annual growth, Microsoft Copilot reflects the strength of integration into widely used software. It scored 0.20, supported by 1.7 million reviews and a 9.6 rating, showing the role of ecosystem-driven adoption.
8. Poe
Once seen as a fast mover, Poe faced a 46 per cent decline in visits year-on-year. Its 378 million visits and score of 0.18 place it eighth. Despite the setback, it maintains a loyal base with 479,100 reviews and an average session duration of nearly 14 minutes.

Mistral, with 101 million visits, is still in its early stages. Yet, with 420 per cent annual growth and 199,600 media citations, it is already building visibility. Its app rating of 9.5 places it among the most liked by users, despite its smaller reach.
10. Meta AI
Meta AI rounds out the list with 130 million visits and 468 per cent annual growth. Its score of 0.17 reflects strong momentum, though with a lower rating of 8.2, user satisfaction trails behind. Still, its growth shows Meta’s intention to make AI central to its platforms.
