Dizengoff Nigeria, a leading agricultural solution provider, has promised to partner Abia State Government in her Agricultural Revolution programmme.
This is following an agreement reached between Uzo Azubuike, commissioner for Agriculture, Abia State and Antti Ritvonen, chief executive officer/ country manager of Dizengoff Nigeria, at a meeting held at the company’s Lagos office.
Ritvonen expressed admiration for the Agricultural and infrastructural development programmes of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration in Abia State, which he described as “a new dawn, not only in the state, but Nigeria at large”.
He assured that with Dizengoff, Abia State would exceed her agricultural goal, particularly in modern agriculture.
The CEO commended Governor Ikpeazu, for introducing Poultry Cluster concept in Abia, which he observed, would not only guarantee food security but also create mass employment for the youths, promising to leverage on his contacts to support the initiative, through processing.
A statement from the Abia Ministry of Agriculture, which was made available to BUSINESSDAY, revealed that Dizengoff will start training Abia farmers from May 4, 2018, in Umuahia.
Azubuike, thanked the management of Dizengoff, for their support and encouragement to Abia State, assuring the commitment of the State Government to partner with the firm to deliver higher agricultural output In the State.
According to the commissioner, “Governor Ikpeazu made agriculture a development pillar of his administration and he is in a hurry to see that our people become net exporters of agric products, including processed brands that will help in conserving foreign exchange for the nation.
“We see a great opportunity in partnering with you, because of your rich experience in agricultural production and processing”, he said.
