Bauchi state government partners Tuns Farm on NEGPRO

The executive governor of Bauchi State , Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has expressed his administration willingness to support the Federal Government’s National Egg Production (NEGPRO) scheme.  He stated this during the sensitisation visit to the state by delegates from Tuns Farms Nigeria Limited, the Federal Government’s lead consultant on NEGPRO to Bauchi state.

Governor M. A. Abubakar assured the delegates of his state’s readiness to support the NEGPRO scheme. He said, “I can assure you that the Government of Bauchi state is ready to support this scheme, we will work to ensure that poultry farmers in Bauchi state are further enlightened about this scheme. We will work to ensure that poultry farmers in Bauchi state are further enlightened about this scheme and also bear the cost on any interest charged on loans giving to farmers in the State’’.

Speaking  during the visit, the Chairman, Tuns Farms, who is also the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Chief Olatunde Badmus informed the Governor that the Federal Government is ready to support poultry Farmers in the state by extending credit facilities of a minimum of N17 million in form of inputs such as feeds, drugs, vaccines and Day old chicks.

He added that the Federal Government is also ready to guarantee the market for the eggs produced by creating a foreword integration plan to the school feeding programme by ensuring that eggs and chicken are fed to Primary school pupils. “The Federal Government has made plans to ensure that there is a ready market for farmers starting with the school feeding programme, by making sure pupils are fed with poultry stocks’’, he said.

In his presentation, the General Manager Tuns Farm  Seyi Ogunjinmi said that several invitations and requests have been received from other states to visit them in order to sensitize them on the scheme and the visit to Bauchi State couldn’t have come at a better time.

The NEGPRO scheme is aimed at creating over 1 million jobs and also ensure that by 2018, fifty million eggs are produced.
