The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has again arraigned former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode before Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Abuja for receiving the sum of N26mn from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki to fund the media campaign of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The former PDP helmsman who is currently standing trial alongside former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman and others before a Federal High Court in Lagos, was arraigned on a five count charge in which he was accused of diverting N26mn allegedly received from the ONSA while Dasuki was in office.
He was also accused of handling the sum of money without going through financial institution as required under the Money Laundering Act.
He however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him, which prompted the prosecuting counsel to urge the court to fix a date for the trial so it could produce it’s witnesses in court.
Ifedayo Adedipe, counsel representing Fani-Kayode however moved it’s bail application, and urged the court to grant his client bail.
The trial judge, Justice Togo subsequently granted him bail in the sum of N50mn, with a surety in like sum who must be a senior citizen with landed property in Abuja, while the matter was adjourned to December 14, 2016 for trial.
