…apprehends 10 suspects for conspiracy, child stealing
Danladi Isa, commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, has reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents for sustainable socio-economic and political development in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
This is following the arrest of 10 suspects for conspiracy and child stealing and the rescue of eight infants and 10 stolen children linked to the suspects in Aba, the state’s commercial hub.
The arrested suspects are Best Ndubusi, a 41 years old (female) from Apaa Osokwa, in Osisioma Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia State, Charles Enyinnaya, 25 years old (male) of Umuogele Ovom, in Aba South LGA of Abia State, Eunice Ezekiel, 35 years old (female) of No. 1 Foursquare, Umukalika, Aba South LGA, Abia State, Nnena Kalu, 60 years old (female), from Osisioma LGA, Abia State and
Gideon Esther, 25 years old (female) of Amalek by Amencha 7Up, Aba, Abia State.
Others are Obiegbunam Von, a 65 years old (female) resident of Aba, Abia State, Ezeoma Rejoice, 21 years old (female) and a resident of Aba, Abia State, Ngozi Owoh, 20 years old (female) and a resident of Aba, Abia State, Favour Ernest, a 22 years old (female) resident of Aba, Abia State and Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, 22 years old (male) of Amuoji Uku, Obingwa LGA, Abia State.

The Abia State Commissioner of Police in a statement signed by Maureen Chinaka, a deputy superintendent of Police (DSP) and the State’s Police Public Relations Officer stated that on September 27, 2025 at about 09:40hrs, a complaint was received at Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters that a young woman from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, came to Aba with her two children (male and female) lured by a young man under the guise of marriage.
On arrival in Aba, the man asked her to get food for herself and the children, while he stays with the children. On her return, she did not see the man and her children, and all efforts to reach him proved abortive.
Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, officers of the command on October 8, 2025 stormed a residence, where stolen children were suspected to be kept, apprehended five suspects namely, Best Ndubusi, Charles Enyinnaya, Eunice Ezekiel, Nnena Kalu, and Gideon Esther, and rescued one infant and seven children.
In furtherance of the investigation, on October 9, 2025, officers of the command, stormed another residence along Aba/Owerri Road, where more stolen children were kept. Four suspects namely: Obiegbunam Von, Ezeoma Rejoice, Ngozi Owoh, and Favour Ernest, were arrested and seven infants and three children were rescued.
On October 10, 2025, officers of the command apprehended another suspect, Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, and rescued one child.
The command said that investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The command advised members of the public in search of their missing or stolen infants/children to visit the Gender Section of the SCID, Abia State Command, or contact the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gender on 08033173846.
