Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin.
Speaking with journalists at the site, the governor described the hospital as one of several landmark investments in public health, education, road networks, and social welfare aimed at improving the lives of residents across all demographics.
Earlier in the week, the governor toured multiple rural road projects in Asa Local Government, including the 23.23km Oko Olowo Express–Sokoto–Tafatafa–Elere–Owode Oja Baba Kudu–Akopari–Otte Oja Road and the 17.7km Madi Peeke Road. He noted that numerous roads had been completed within and outside Ilorin, while many others remain under construction.
Governor AbdulRazaq praised other States for their own developmental strides, citing major hospital projects in Lagos, Kaduna, and Katsina, and linked the nationwide surge in infrastructure delivery to the increased revenue allocations that followed the removal of fuel subsidy.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support, recalling that First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu laid the hospital’s foundation six months ago.
“Work has progressed tremendously. By the second quarter of next year, we expect completion. Most of the equipment including radiography machines, CT scanners, MRI, PET scan machines have already been ordered,” he said.
The governor also highlighted other ongoing projects, such as the International Conference Centre, ICT Centre in Shonga, Patigi Regatta Motel, Shea Butter Factory in Kaiama, and Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa.
“We are executing major infrastructure projects across all sectors, not just healthcare. From Kaduna’s new hospital to Lagos’ New Massey Children’s Hospital, sub-nationals are investing heavily in health, education, agriculture, and more all made possible by increased federal allocations,” he added.
He stressed that while roads are the most visible, massive investments were also being channeled into education, agriculture, and rural development noting that, “education is not a low-hanging fruit, so people may not immediately see the impact. But we have just approved another ₦20 billion for education infrastructure.”
The governor listed completed and ongoing road projects in Kwara South, including Oro–Arandun Road, Ajase-Ipo–Oke Ode (in phases), Omu-Aran–Oko, Orisa Bridge along Oro-Ago, the road to Owu Waterfall, roads in Offa, and the upcoming Ilemona bypass.
