Manchester United have ramped up their pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo with a fresh bid totalling £70 million, as the Red Devils aim for the signature of the highly rated Cameroon international.
The latest proposal includes £65 million upfront and an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons, with Brentford now expected to respond to United’s offer.
According to The Athletic, Mbeumo had already informed both Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur of his preference to join Manchester United should he make a move this summer.
Manchester United had previously seen two offers rejected, an initial £45m plus £10m in add-ons, followed by an improved bid of £55m plus £7.5m.
Brentford have been holding out for a fee higher than the £62.5m Manchester United paid Wolverhampton Wanderers for Matheus Cunha earlier this summer, and negotiations are ongoing as both clubs seek a breakthrough.
Mbeumo, 25, is entering the final year of his contract at Brentford, although the club holds an option to extend it by an additional 12 months.
Despite interest from Tottenham, especially following the appointment of former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as head coach, the forward has made it clear that Old Trafford is his preferred destination.
Mbeumo, who joined Brentford from French outfit Troyes in 2019, enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists to help Brentford to a 10th-place Premier League finish.
