The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Yahaya Saleh, a 40-year-old man, for allegedly attempting to bribe investigators with ₦1.5 million in a bid to obstruct justice in an ongoing kidnapping case.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, SP the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Command’s elite Scorpion Squad, who had been investigating a kidnapping syndicate believed to be operating within the FCT and surrounding areas.

Saleh was said to have approached the investigators and offered a substantial cash bribe in a desperate attempt to influence the outcome of the investigation and secure the unlawful release of one of the arrested kidnap suspects.
However, the officers, described as professional and resolute, rejected the offer and initiated legal procedures, which led to Saleh’s immediate arrest.
The police have launched further investigations to apprehend other members of the criminal network.

Commending the operatives involved, Ajao Adewale, Commissioner of Police, CP, praised their integrity and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to justice and zero tolerance for corruption.
He assured residents of the FCT that the police will continue to act decisively against criminal activities and any attempt to obstruct justice, stressing that such conduct will be met with the full weight of the law.
