The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London on Sunday.
A condolence message signed on Sunday by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State and the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) described Buhari’s death as a significant loss to Nigeria and Africa, noting that his passing marked the departure of one of the continent’s most respected leaders.

“Buhari was not just a former President or military leader; he was a national icon known for his moral courage, strong character, and unwavering sense of duty,” the statement read.
The NGF praised his humility, strategic patience, and modest lifestyle, qualities that, according to the Forum, distinguished him as a leader of rare calibre.
The governors extended their condolences to President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging the personal loss Tinubu had suffered with the passing of his friend, predecessor, and party ally.

They also sent sympathies to former First Lady Aishah Buhari, the entire Buhari family, and the people of Katsina State.
“As we mourn, we pray Allah, the giver and taker of life, to ease the account of His servant, Muhammadu Buhari, grant him al-jannah Firdaus, and comfort his family and the nation at large”, NGF noted.
