Energy giants Ardova Plc and Shell International have called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s power sector to shift from rhetoric to action in addressing the country’s persistent energy access challenges.
The appeal was made during the Shell Power Conference 2.0, held in Lagos, where leaders and experts gathered to drive solution-focused conversations aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition.
With the theme “Powering Nigeria’s Energy Future: Bridging the Gap Between Ambition and Action,” the conference served as a strategic forum for confronting the structural, regulatory, and financial barriers limiting reliable and affordable power supply in the country.
Speaking at the event, Osama El-Sherif, Business Development Manager, Shell Macro Distributor for Europe and Africa, said the success of Nigeria’s energy transition lies in the ability of both public and private actors to work collaboratively and realistically toward shared goals.
“At Shell, we believe Nigeria’s energy transition must be ambitious and realistic. This conference allows us to connect vision with action by listening, collaborating, and working together to shape solutions that can truly transform lives,” he said.
Moshood Olajide, Managing Director of Ardova Plc, reinforced the need for coordinated action among stakeholders, highlighting the company’s collaboration with Shell as a model of innovation-driven partnership.
“Our partnership with Shell is founded on a shared vision to drive innovation in power and make it accessible to Nigerians. The conversations at this forum are a testament to the collective will and expertise required to make that happen,” Olajide stated.
Discussions centred on how Nigeria can create an enabling environment for investment, strengthen public-private partnerships, and develop innovative financing models to support long-term power sector growth.
The conference also stressed the importance of policy coherence, institutional accountability, and capacity building in tackling the widening electricity access gap, especially in underserved communities.
