…Demands lasting Peace, security in the state
Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for an end to violence in Plateau State, declaring her latest humanitarian visit as the final one tied to tragedy.
Speaking on Thursday during a heartfelt visit to Jos, the Plateau State capital, she pleaded for unity and peace, stressing that the insecurity in the state must come to an end.
Accompanied by representatives of the Renewed Hope Initiative, the Nigeria’s First Lady announced the donation of one billion naira to support victims, the less privilege and ongoing humanitarian efforts.
She clarified that the funds were not government allocations but personal contributions from well-meaning individuals channeled through her initiative.

“This is not government money, It is money given to me personally, to use for humanity”; she emphasied.
The First Lady urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, and political stakeholders to take collective action to secure the state, describing them as custodians of the land who must not allow further bloodshed.
“Politicians will come and go, but you remain,” she said, adding that security must be prioritized before further development efforts can succeed.
The First Lady recounted her interaction with a young girl at the airport who welcomed her with fruits and vegetables and called Plateau “the land of peace and tourism.” She described the moment as prophetic.
She also called on Nigerian men, especially community leaders, to take a stand and protect women and children, allowing them to farm, travel, and live freely.
“We women don’t carry arms. We don’t fight. All we ask is that the men protect us,” she said.
Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to supporting peace, but insisted that this would be the last time she would return to Plateau under such painful circumstances.
