The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a series of precision air strikes in Niger State, killing scores of terrorists and destroying their logistics and hideouts.
The operation, carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1 between June 24 and 26, 2025, was in response to recent attacks and criminal activities in the region, including cattle rustling and assaults on local communities.
According to a statement released on Friday by Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the air raids were launched in close coordination with other military and security agencies, providing critical support to ground forces engaged in ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
According to the statement, on June 26, acting on credible intelligence and in a joint effort with other branches of the armed forces and security agencies, NAF identified terrorist movements linked to cattle rustling and attacks on residents in Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.
“In response, the Air Component swiftly deployed combat aircraft to the affected axis, executing multiple waves of precision air strikes,” the statement reads.

The strikes, according to the Force, successfully neutralised scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics networks, and severely disrupted their attempts to regroup.
The operation, NAF noted, showcased the Nigerian Air Force’s growing capability in delivering rapid, coordinated responses to threats, as well as its commitment to inter-agency collaboration.
“These missions highlight the professionalism and efficiency of the Nigerian Air Force, not only in terms of combat readiness but also in intelligence-led joint operations aimed at degrading terrorist elements and protecting civilian lives,” the statement added.
The air raids are part of ongoing efforts by the military to restore peace and stability to terror-affected areas of Niger State and the broader North Central region.
The NAF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of Nigeria and protecting the lives and property of all citizens, assuring that it will continue to intensify operations until lasting peace is achieved.
