PWAN Plus Business Concerns Ltd., developers of the Cedarwood Estates, has refuted what it describes as “malicious, defamatory and injurious statements” made by a social media influencer, Scott Iguma, regarding its Cedarwood Park and Cedarwood Gardens projects.
At a press conference held on Thursday, Julius Oyedemi, the company’s managing director and chief executive officer, dismissed claims made in a viral video posted by Iguma on June 17, 2025, in which the influencer alleged that the company did not own the said estates and only issued receipts without actual land allocation.
“In the said video, he claimed that ‘those estates, none of them belong to PWAN,’ ‘na receipt PWAN dey sell,’ and ‘you don’t get any land,’” Oyedemi stated.
“All these claims are not only false, but misguided outbursts of a chronic ignoramus who does not understand the nitty-gritty and inner workings of the real estate industry.”
He further clarified that Cedarwood Park (200 plots) and Cedarwood Gardens (300 plots) were launched and sold between 2017 and 2018, with the lands duly acquired from the Olorunishola and Alonge families, who executed deeds of assignment and other legal documentation at the time.
Oyedemi also explained that changes in Lagos State’s land policy under a new administration led to a shift from village excision to government allocation through private developer schemes. As a result, Cedarwood Park and Gardens were incorporated into the Idera Private Developers’ Scheme.
“The cost of re-acquiring the lands… far exceeded the purchase and selling price,” he said, noting that the company had to initiate swaps or offer refunds to affected subscribers due to the high cost of sandfilling in the water-logged areas.
He emphasised that contrary to the influencer’s claims, the company has made substantial progress in fulfilling its obligations to subscribers.
“More than 50% of subscribers in both estates had been allocated… and had been issued individual survey plans and deeds of assignments,” he said. “As of today, more than 75%… have either been swapped to better locations… or refunded the full amount they paid.”
The company expressed concern that Iguma neither contacted them for clarification nor attempted to present a balanced perspective.
“Scott is not the spokesman of PWAN PLUS and did not at any time reach out to us… He just went berserk with half-truths and even blatant misrepresentations on matters he knows little or nothing about,” Oyedemi said.
PWAN Plus also highlighted its track record, noting that from 2023 to 2025, it had allocated 4,234 plots to 2,304 clients across locations including Lagos, Asaba, Aba, and Owerri, and a total of 10,000 plots between 2017 and 2022.
“All our estates are fully paid for… with some of them having Certificates of Occupancy and Governor’s Consent,” the MD added.
The company announced that legal action would be pursued against Iguma. “Our legal representatives will be escalating Scott Iguma’s defamatory statements to the appropriate law enforcement and judicial authorities for necessary intervention,” Oyedemi declared.
He called on subscribers, realtors, and the public to disregard the video and trust the company’s long-term commitment to title perfection and client communication.
“We maintain robust communication and engagements with our subscribers… and earlier this year, we commenced the ‘Subscribers Education Series’ (SES), a weekly virtual forum… which has connected us with more than 1,000 subscribers and realtors,” he said.
Oyedemi reaffirmed PWAN Plus’ commitment to accountability, integrity, and service excellence. “We are a responsible and law-abiding organisation. This press conference is necessary to assuage the minds of our loyal subscribers and stakeholders who may be misled by misinformation that does not reflect who we are or what we represent.”
