Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a potential four-year ban after being charged by the Football Association (FA) for alleged anti-doping violations.
The Ukrainian international, who has not played for Chelsea since December 2024, is under investigation for the “presence and/or use of a prohibited substance”, according to the FA. The charge falls under Regulations 3 and 4 of the FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations.

In a statement, the FA confirmed, “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
The 23-year-old winger first addressed the issue last December after being informed of a positive test result.
“This has come as a complete shock,” Mudryk said in an Instagram post. “I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules. I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.”
Mudryk has enlisted legal support from Morgan Sports Law, the same firm that represented Paul Pogba during his doping case. Pogba initially received a four-year suspension that was later reduced to 18 months on appeal.
The banned substance in Mudryk’s case was reportedly discovered during a routine doping test in late 2024. He played 20 matches for club and country during the 2024/25 season, with his last appearance coming in Chelsea’s 2-0 UEFA Conference League win over Heidenheim, where he scored.
If found guilty, Mudryk could face a suspension of up to four years, a blow that would significantly impact both his career and Chelsea’s plans for the upcoming season. Chelsea have yet to comment publicly on the case.
