As we celebrate ourselves today, let us strengthen and reinforce our families and spaces because the climate is smiling wryly.
It is apparent that challenges and difficulties are part of our lives and living. How we position ourselves to predict, prevent, confront and overcome them remains a subject of continuous learning.
The question is, are we actually learning? If yes, are the learning points impacting our decisions? And are the decisions connected and inclusive or conflicted and restrictive?
Fathers who have earned badges and pins for their accomplishments, whether at home or work, were able to recognise the essence of insurance quite early in their vocation.
It is so disheartening to see families and communities torn apart by accidents and disasters, and the recovery management worsened by the absence of any insurance policy. The insurance industry is more available today to provide needed relief where governments are challenged with responding effectively.
As fathers, we must be ready to take advantage the insurance offers to secure the future for our families and communities. Let us begin to ask those critical questions that will force the positive changes we desire.

*Did you know that to better prepare for unexpected and unfortunate occurrences* you can subscribe to an insurance policy that enables you to create wealth within a set duration, including the period of the misfortunes? For example, insurance of child education, for retirement or against ill-health.
*Did you know that insurance is so inclusive that governments use it as a legal instrument to ensure citizens are collectively protected in public spaces?* For example, insurance of aircraft, buildings, vehicles, vessels, etc, commonly used by the public?
*Did you know that insurance has long been a source of investible funds* for infrastructure development and guarantees for small businesses, especially in emerging economies like ours? For example, insurers invest largely in treasury bills while they provide the guarantees that enable SMEs to deliver services.
*Did you know that we can redirect the huge costs of burials and family support that is stressing us by* spending a tenth to subscribe to group insurance policies that pay out when deaths or critical illnesses happen?
As fathers, we are in a better position today, by either population or placement, to decide and influence the decisions that will ensure a relieved future for our families and communities. Wouldn’t you rather encourage the decision to insure and be insured?
This is the gift we owe ourselves. Let us do it. Insure your family today. Insure your community, too. Insurance works. We are making it work.
