As part of activities to mark the 2025 Father’s Day, celebrate fatherhood and generational business leadership, BudPay – Nigeria’s leading payment technology company, has unveiled ‘The Legacy Project’ – a documentary series.
The initiative features prominent Nigerian family businesses where fathers have either successfully transferred leadership to their children or are leading side-by-side, creating lasting legacies that continue to shape the nation’s economic landscape.
The documentary highlights renowned organisations, including Coscharis Group, Okeyson Group, and Wuyi Adeyemo & Co., among others, showcasing how these business patriarchs have nurtured entrepreneurship within their families while building enterprises that span generations.
“The Legacy Project represents our commitment to honouring the profound impact fathers have in shaping not just their families, but entire industries,” said Unini Campbell, Chief Commercial Officer at BudPay said in a statement.
“We believe it is a profound honour for a father to successfully pass on his legacy to the next generation, and through this project, we aim to celebrate that heritage and spotlight its lasting impact on families, businesses, and society at large,” Campbell said.
According to her, the documentary explores four key themes – family legacy in business, mentorship across generations, nurturing entrepreneurship within families, and the broader meaning of fatherhood in the business context.
She noted that each feature presents intimate, conversational interviews between fathers and their children who are actively involved in the organisations they founded.
Leaders of participating businesses share their journeys, lessons learned, and insights on what it means to build something that transcends individual achievement to become a family and societal legacy.
Platform for shared experiences
“These stories go beyond business success, they’re about values, mentorship, and the unique dynamics of working alongside family members,” she said.
“Spanning from the showrooms of Coscharis to the thriving spaces of our other featured companies, we’re capturing authentic conversations about leadership, legacy, and love.”
The documentary series was filmed at locations chosen by the participating families, ensuring comfortable, authentic settings for these personal conversations.
The Legacy Project forms the centerpiece of BudPay’s Father’s Day 2025 campaign, which will be shared across the company’s social media platforms and community channels.
The initiative aligns with BudPay’s mission to support and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit that drives African commerce.
“As a payment technology company that serves businesses across Africa, we understand the importance of legacy, continuity, and the passing of entrepreneurial wisdom from one generation to the next,” Campbell explained.
“These stories inspire us and remind us of the foundational role fathers play in building the businesses that power our economy.”
