The Brand Management Academy (BMA) officially launched its Alumni Network on Saturday, June 14th, with a ceremony in Lagos that brought together over 450 marketing and sales professionals from across Africa.
The event attracted top executives and rising talents from major industries, including consumer goods, technology, finance, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
Olusegun X. Akinyemiju, the newly installed President of the BMA Alumni Network, described the ceremony as historic.
“This is more than just a reunion,” he said. “It’s the birth of a movement — a strategic community of commercial leaders committed to raising the bar for brand and business performance in Africa.”
The ceremony featured keynote speeches, success stories from alumni, industry discussions, and networking opportunities. The event also included an after-party that organisers said captured the energy of the BMA community.
The Alumni Network’s executive committee was formally introduced at the event. The leadership team won their positions in February after what observers called a competitive election that used creative campaign strategies.

The new executive committee includes Vice President Olalekan Okeowo, Social and Engagement Director Ayokunumi Kehinde, Finance Director Dorcas Akoh, and Welfare Director Ehigie Chika Ruth.
Dr. Abiodun Ajiborode, who founded BMA, said the Alumni Network was always part of his plans for the Academy.
“We didn’t just want to produce skilled professionals; we wanted to build an ecosystem of brand custodians. A platform where leaders can grow, collaborate, and influence the industries they serve,” he explained.
The network has already outlined plans for mentorship programmes, leadership sessions, community projects, and partnerships to drive marketing innovation across Africa.
President Akinyemiju said the ceremony marked the beginning of the network’s impact on African business.
“We are just getting started,” he said. “The real power of BMA is not only in what we learned, but in what we will build together.”
The BMA Alumni Network aims to become a major force in developing marketing leadership across the continent, with members working in top companies throughout Africa and beyond.
