Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has commended Seplat Energy Unlimited for deepening investment in the oil and gas sector of the country’s economy.
Eno gave the commendation when he received Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas) and Udobong Ntia, Executive Vice President (Upstream), NNPC Limited in his Office in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The governor, who approved an office accommodation for the oil company, restated the commitment of the State Government towards strengthening the oil and gas sector and attracting strategic investments.
The oil company was allocated at the 21-smart building as its office space known as Udom Emmanuel Towers.
He emphasised that the State remains focused on building the infrastructure needed to attract and sustain meaningful investments.
The governor also expressed gratitude to former Governor Udom Emmanuel for his foresight in building the iconic 21-storey Udom Emmanuel Towers, which today serves as a hub for multinational corporations, including the upcoming SEPLAT presence.
“As we continue to build critical infrastructure, Nigeria and the global investment community will increasingly look to Akwa Ibom,” the governor said.
Governor Eno further applauded the role of the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria in expanding access and value within the gas sector, and reiterated the State’s unwavering commitment to federal partnerships that drive economic development.
Looking ahead to the Gas Aggregator Conference, scheduled to hold in Uyo in July 2025, the governor assured the delegation of the State’s full support. He pledged that Akwa Ibom would provide all necessary logistics, hospitality, and security support to ensure the success of the high-level industry event.
He also reaffirmed that flagship projects such as the Ibom Deep Seaport, Ibom Industrial City, expanded aviation development, and maritime infrastructure are progressing steadily, backed by a growing network of digital infrastructure and support systems designed to position the state for future growth.
In their respective remarks, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, and Udobong Ntia, the EVP (Upstream), thanked Governor Eno for his warm reception and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with Akwa Ibom State to unlock the full potential of the gas value chain.
Seplat completed the acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited last year, which remained a key player in the oil and gas sectors of the economy. It has its operational base in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.
