Musa Ahmed Mohammed, the Accountant General of Nasarawa State, has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his outstanding leadership, noting that the governor’s development strides have not only transformed the state but significantly impacted Nigeria’s broader economic outlook.
Speaking in an interview with journalists on governor Sule’s two years of his second term in office, Mohammed, a former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and a professional accountant, emphasized that Governor Sule’s prudent economic policies and industrial drive have attracted global attention to Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, especially in Nasarawa.
Mohammed, a chartered Accountant, highlighted that the increased exploration of lithium and other essential minerals in Nasarawa State has helped boost the nation’s revenue. He noted that the federal government acknowledged Sule’s role in unlocking opportunities in the solid minerals subsector, which contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economy in 2024.
He cited the commissioning of Nigeria’s largest lithium processing factory in Nasarawa by President Bola Tinubu as a turning point.
“The facility, operated by Avatar New Energy Materials Company, can process 4,000 metric tonnes of lithium concentrate daily, projecting a $500 million turnover and over $35 million in profits and taxes annually”
Beyond solid minerals, the Accountant General outlined Governor Sule’s success in agriculture, with major firms such as Dangote Group and AZMAN Farms investing heavily in the state. He noted that Dangote Sugar alone acquired 68,000 hectares for a factory capable of employing over 1,000 locals.
Mohammed also praised the governor for the state’s peaceful environment, which continues to attract investors. He said the administration’s collaboration with security agencies has ensured safety, enabling economic growth through improved business confidence and community integration.
On infrastructure, Mohammed described the flyover and underpass projects in Lafia and Akwanga as legacy investments. He said the projects were fully funded without borrowing, citing the governor’s resourcefulness and transparency in managing state funds.
The Accountant General hailed Sule’s honesty in publicly declaring a federal refund for the Lafia Cargo Airport. He said the governor not only disclosed the funds but also sought public input on how to spend them, setting a new standard for transparency in governance.
He noted that the administration has also prioritised healthcare and education. “More health centers have been built, and access to medical services has improved, especially in rural communities. Over 16,000 out-of-school children, particularly girls, have returned to school under the AGILE programme”; he noted.
Mohammed urged the citizens to continue supporting Governor Sule. He expressed optimism that the administration would achieve even greater milestones in the remaining two years, ensuring Nasarawa remains a shining example of good governance in Nigeria.
