Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the second time after his role in guiding the Reds to a record-equalling 20th English League title.
The 32-year-old Egyptian forward earned the prestigious accolade after netting 28 league goals, five more than any other player, and providing 18 assists so far this season.
This marks the second time Salah has won the award, having first claimed it during the 2017/18 campaign.
The award is determined through a combination of public voting and selections by a panel of football experts. With this win, Salah becomes the first non-Manchester City player to receive the honour in five seasons.
His Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk, who last won it in 2018/19, was among the finalists this year.
Other nominees included: Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Alexander Isak (Newcastle), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), and Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest).
Salah heads into Sunday’s final league match against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace just two assists shy of the all-time single-season Premier League record of 20, held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
In a season packed with milestones, Salah also became the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s 184 goals.
Signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool, keeping him at Anfield until 2027.
Won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the third time, receiving nearly 90% of the votes, the largest winning margin this century.
With one game to go, Salah leads the league in both goals and assists, underscoring his dominance in a landmark season for both himself and Liverpool.
