The Nigeria Police Force and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) have sought to deepen collaboration in promoting ethics and accountability in public service, in a move aimed at reinforcing integrity and transparency across Nigeria’s public institutions.
This was during a meeting between Olukayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Abdullahi Bello, CCB Chairman, held on Thursday in Abuja.
In a statement issued by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the visit was described as a step towards building a stronger framework for compliance, information sharing, and joint efforts to institutionalise professionalism within the public sector.
During the meeting, Bello commended the Inspector-General for his leadership and the visible strides made by the Police in promoting discipline and ethical standards.
He emphasised the importance of close synergy between the Police and the Bureau, particularly in areas that support the CCB’s mandate of ensuring public officials adhere to codes of conduct.
Egbetokun, in his response, praised the Bureau’s role in strengthening integrity in governance and reiterated the Police Force’s commitment to fostering institutional accountability.
He stressed the need for collaborative frameworks that reinforce public trust, transparency, and professionalism within law enforcement and other arms of government.
“The Nigeria Police Force is open to partnerships that advance ethical values and will continue to work closely with bodies like the Code of Conduct Bureau to promote good governance and national development,” the IGP affirmed.
