Airtel Nigeria said it is doubling its capital investment commitment to the Nigerian market as part of its drive to reinforce its unwavering dedication to delivering superior service and driving digital inclusion.
According to the organisation, this unprecedented investment surge covers critical infrastructure upgrades, rural coverage expansion, advanced data solutions, customer experience enhancements, and community-driven initiatives.
Speaking on the historic investment, Dinesh Balsingh, chief executive officer of Airtel Nigeria, said the decision to double the company’s investment reflects its deep commitment to Nigeria’s future.
According to him, Airtel as a company views Nigeria as home and is investing in transformative infrastructure that will deliver unmatched value to our customers and make connectivity an everyday reality for more Nigerians.
Balsingh said the move also underlines Airtel Nigeria’s continued role as a pivotal force in the nation’s digital transformation and economic progress.
He said that at the heart of the company’s investment strategy is the expansion and fortification of its network infrastructure, aimed at significantly elevating connectivity and customer experience across the country.
On accelerated 5G deployment, he said the company is rapidly rolling out 5G technology on its sites nationwide, enabling ultra-fast data speeds and enhanced service quality.
“Additional sites are being established to deepen network reach, particularly in underserved rural areas, ensuring that more Nigerians benefit from reliable mobile connectivity”.
“Upgrades at existing sites include the installation of high-capacity radios to accommodate growing data consumption, and Airtel is deploying additional fiber networks while also relocating existing fiber lines to optimise connectivity”.
He further said investments include equipping data centers to leverage the 2Africa cable landing stations and international bandwidth, significantly boosting data throughput.
“Airtel is building a new, state-of-the-art data center to support its growing customer base and enhance data management capabilities. Customer Access Enhancement: New shops and outlets are being built nationwide to improve customer access and service delivery.
“Airtel is introducing cutting edge terminals and devices to enable customers access data services, including home broadband. This is not just about technology; it’s about empowerment and making a positive difference in people’s lives,” he said.
Recall that Airtel Nigeria has been building on its established dedication to customer satisfaction through the launch of innovative solutions such as the Airtel AISpam Alert Service, which notifies subscribers of potentially malicious SMS messages in real time, helping to boost subscriber safety.
The company has also introduced upgraded call center capacities and personalised mobile packages as part of its Smarter Self-Service Platforms, making it easier for customers to manage services efficiently.
Beyond technology, Airtel Nigeria continues to maintain its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission to boost access to education, financial inclusion, environmental protection, and digital skills development.
Apart from its ongoing collaboration with UNICEF on the re-imagine Education Programme, which has connected over 1,200 public primary schools to digital learning platforms like the Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP), Airtel Nigeria recently presented a N1billion grant to the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talents (3MTT) initiative to help equip young people for the local and global technology sector.
These new investments are poised to significantly boost the Nigerian economy by creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, and building a more resilient digital infrastructure. Airtel Nigeria remains steadfast in its mission to be a catalyst for economic growth and a leader in the digital inclusion space.
