British heavyweight Hughie Fury has declared that Anthony Joshua’s boxing career is nearing its end and believes he would defeat the former unified champion more devastatingly than Daniel Dubois did.
Joshua suffered a crushing fifth-round knockout loss to Dubois in September 2024, marking the lowest point of his career. The defeat, which came after earlier knockdowns and a first-round scare, was Joshua’s fourth professional loss, following setbacks against Andy Ruiz Jr. and twice against Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite currently recovering from injury, Joshua has stated his intention to return for one final run. However, Hughie Fury, cousin to former WBC champion Tyson Fury, has questioned whether Joshua has anything left to offer the sport.
Speaking to Morson Sport, Fury said he was ready to face ‘AJ’ and predicted an even more dominant performance than Dubois managed.
“Yeah, 100%, I’ll beat him worse than Dubois did,” Fury said. “These are the fights that I want. Joshua had a great career. You can’t really knock the fella; he’s been at the elite level and done great things in boxing. But I believe his time is done. He’s got limited fights left, and hopefully I’ll be one of them.”
Fury, 29, boasts a record of 30 wins and 3 losses from 33 bouts, with defeats coming against top names like Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, and Kubrat Pulev. He recently returned to the ring in April with a fifth-round knockout of Dan Garber.
While Fury eyes a high-profile bout with Anthony Joshua, the 2012 Olympic gold medallist is reportedly more interested in blockbuster matchups, potentially including a long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury, should the Gypsy King come out of retirement.
