The Plateau State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chocolate City Group, one of Nigeria’s most prominent entertainment companies. The move is to revitalise Plateau’s creative economy.
The agreement was formally signed on Monday in Jos by Cornelius Doeyok, the Commissioner for Tourism, Culture, and Hospitality, on behalf of the State Government, marking a significant step toward harnessing the State’s vast creative potential.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Doeyok highlighted the vision of the State’s governor to channel Plateau’s cultural richness and youthful energy into sustainable economic development.
He emphasised the need for a structured platform to amplify the creative capacity. He noted that Chocolate City’s global reputation and industry experience make it an ideal partner in this transformational journey.
Doeyok added that the initiative was also expected to invigorate tourism, culture, and provide economic diversification. He underscored the importance of storytelling and the state’s desire to share its narratives on a broader scale, stating that Chocolate City’s involvement would help in “telling our story in our own voice.
“This MoU stems from the vision of His Excellency to breathe new life into the creative industry here on the Plateau. Plateau State is rich with talent and brimming with individuals full of ideas. As a government, our goal is to organise this potential in a way that significantly amplifies the output beyond what we currently see.
“One of our challenges has been telling our story in our own voice. Chocolate City will play a key role in helping us amplify the creative talents of Plateau State. As a globally recognised and thriving entertainment company, Chocolate City aligns perfectly with His Excellency’s broader vision to diversify the state’s economy, invigorate tourism and culture, and energise the creative sector.
