Nigerian stars lit up the 2025 Met Gala as Ayra Starr, Chimamanda Adichie, Tems and Burna Boy, made standout appearances at the iconic fashion event.
Stars stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet with bold interpretations of this year’s theme, Tailored for You, a celebration of the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
This year marked a significant shift, as it was the first menswear-focused Gala since 2003’s Men in Skirts. The exhibit, curated in part by guest scholar Monica Miller, centers on Black dandyism — a fashion tradition rooted in sharp tailoring, elegance, and cultural resistance.
“A Black dandy is someone who studies, above all else, how to dress elegantly and fashionably,” Miller told Vogue. “If we think about Black history in terms of visual culture from the time of enslavement to the present, that story is about a fight for, and an increasing ability to, self-represent.”
After making their entrances, guests were invited to tour the exhibition before sitting down to an exclusive dinner inside the museum.
