England striker Harry Kane finally celebrated the first major title of his career after Bayern Munich were crowned 2024/25 Bundesliga champions on Sunday, thanks to Freiburg’s 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.
The result left Bayern eight points clear with just two rounds remaining, securing the record-extending 34th German league title for the Bavarian giants. For Kane, 31, the triumph ends years of near-misses and runner-up finishes with Tottenham, Bayern, and England, dispelling talk of a long-standing “curse” on one of the game’s elite forwards.

Kane joined Bayern in 2023 as the club’s record signing but endured a trophyless debut season. The England captain was on the verge of celebrating the title a day earlier, only for Bayern to concede a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Leipzig. But Freiburg’s stalemate with Leverkusen ensured the champagne could finally be uncorked.

Leverkusen, knowing second place was secure and chasing an improbable goal-difference miracle, lacked urgency. Goals from Maximilian Eggestein and a Piero Hincapie own goal gave Freiburg control before Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah pulled the visitors level late, too late to deny Bayern.
Celebrations erupted in Munich, with Kane and teammates singing “We Are the Champions” and dancing to Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds, drenched in beer and champagne at a local restaurant.
Bayern will officially receive the Bundesliga trophy next weekend at the Allianz Arena after their match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, a game that will also mark an emotional farewell for club legend Thomas Müller, who departs with a record 13 Bundesliga titles.
“He’s going as a legend,” said Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann of the outgoing Müller.
