Liverpool crowned new Premier League Champions

Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions, equalling Manchester United’s historic record of 20 top-flight titles.

The Reds sealed the title in style with a thumping 5–1 victory over Tottenham at a jubilant Anfield.

Arne Slot’s side have dominated the campaign in the Dutchman’s first season in charge, losing just twice in 34 games to end Manchester City’s four-year stranglehold on the league.

Needing only a point to officially secure the title, Liverpool suffered an early scare when former Reds striker Dominic Solanke headed Spurs into the lead.

However, the setback only spurred Slot’s men into action, as they stormed back with three goals before half-time to send the Anfield faithful into raptures.

Luis Díaz levelled after 16 minutes, turning in Dominik Szoboszlai’s pass from close range. The goal was awarded after a VAR check overturned an initial offside call.

Eight minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister fired Liverpool ahead with a stunning strike from the edge of the area, easing any lingering tension.

Cody Gakpo made it 3–1 in 34 minutes, finding time and space in the box to turn and finish, setting the stage for a title party on Merseyside.

Liverpool continued their onslaught in the second half. Mohamed Salah cut inside to score the fourth before famously taking a selfie with a fan’s phone to celebrate.

Destiny Udogie then turned it into his net under pressure from Salah, completing Tottenham’s collapse.
The win allowed Liverpool to celebrate a title triumph in front of their fans at Anfield for the first time since 1990, a sharp contrast to their behind-closed-doors success in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The newly crowned champions still have a chance to surpass City’s 91-point tally from last season.
