The people of Alanku community in Boki 1 state constituency under the umbrella of Alanku Progressives Movement (APM) have petitioned Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State over what they termed “16 years of neglect by the previous administration in the state since 1999.”
The people claimed that out of the five wards that make up the constituency- Abo, Alanku, Beebo/Bumaji, Boje, and Buentsebe wards- it is only Alanku community that has not has any of its sons or daughters appointed as a member of the state executive council since 1999.
In a statement signed by Sampson Osor, its president and Lucky Ubua, secretary, read in part, “We are constrained to bring this appeal for appointment of our sons or daughters to you due to the seeming neglect since the commencement of our current democratic dispensation of the Alanku, ward, Boki 1 State Constituency in the con- sideration for appointments at the state level or election into the state Assembly/Local Gov- ernment Council”.
The statement further read: “We believe in objectivity, fair- ness and justice which you rep- resent will be in your consider- ation in the appointment into your cabinet and other available positions at the state level. While counting on your goodwill, fair- ness, and equal treatment of all wards, we wish to reiterate our determination and commitment to support your lofty develop- mental agenda for the people of cross river state.”
