Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has voiced his disappointment following a 1-0 home defeat to Wolves on Sunday, admitting that his side “lacks a lot” as their struggles in the Premier League continue.
The Red Devils had enjoyed a dramatic 5-4 Europa League quarter-final second-leg win over Lyon on Thursday, a result that masked the issues plaguing their domestic form. But Sunday’s defeat, United’s 15th of the season, a new club record in the Premier League era, laid those problems bare once again.

United dominated possession at Old Trafford, but their wastefulness in front of goal proved costly.
Meanwhile, Amorim has won just six of his 22 Premier League games since replacing Erik ten Hag in November and admitted the scale of the challenge still facing him.
“If you look at the game, we were the better team, but in the end, it doesn’t matter,” Amorim said post-match.
“If we don’t score goals, nothing matters because, in the end, it is the result that counts, especially in these kinds of moments.
We create a lot of chances; we control the game, and then one set-piece changes the game.
It’s really frustrating.
We have a lot to do and to focus on improving the team step by step. We need to be honest with the fans: we’re lacking in many areas.”
Much of the criticism has centred on the poor form of striker Rasmus Højlund, who has managed just one goal in his last 28 appearances. With Joshua Zirkzee sidelined by a season-ending injury, Amorim faces a dilemma up front.
United, currently languishing in 14th place, will now turn their focus back to Europe as they prepare to face Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-finals, hoping for a better showing on the continental stage than in a forgettable domestic campaign.
