…Says mass news faking is to cause instability
The government in Rivers State maned by a sole administrator seems to battle with disinformation, something Ibok Ekwe Ibas, a retired vice admiral, says is aimed at destabilizing the state already under state of emergency.
This came after statements have been issued claiming one sensitive occurrence or the other. It began when a statement said a Nysom Wike henchman has been appointed as Chief of Staff. Government denied that. Next, another statement said another Wike henchman had been appointed as boss of the revenue board. There was no confirmation.

Next, there was a statement that a Chief Magistrate resigned in detestation of state of emergency. The government came out to deny it, saying the man was rather relieved of his duty long before state of emergency for disciplinary reasons.
The latest says the suspended governor and deputy had been summoned by the Sole Administrator to defend finances of the state. The Solad seems rattled and has issued stern warnings.
There may have been underground peeping into books of the government but there has been no summoning, investigations revealed.
Now, the State Government says it has become aware of fraudulent announcements circulating on social media, falsely attributed to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). “These malicious fabrications are designed to mislead the public, create panic, and disrupt the peace in Rivers State.
The statement said one of such fake announcement falsely claimed that His Excellency, Fubara, and Ngozi Odu, his deputy, were summoned to a meeting at the Government House on Friday, April 18, 2025.
