The management of Banana Island has apologised to the residents and visitors to the estate for the disruption of access to the estate Tuesday morning.
The management under the aegis of Banana Island Property Owners and Residents Association, Lagos (BIPORAL), also thanked the residents for their “unwavering solidarity during this challenging period.”
The access road to the estate was closed following the invasion of the estate by officials of the federal ministry of housing and urban development who came to demolish some properties in the estate.

“Today’s invasion and demolition of parts of our beloved estate by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is indeed a trying time for us all,” Olusola Oladunjoye’, BIPORAL Financial Fecretary, said in a statement.
Continuing, Oladunjoye said, “your swift and collective response has been nothing short of inspiring. The physical presence of residents at the protests and your loud, clear voices have sent a strong message of unity and resilience. It is a powerful reminder of the strength we possess when we stand together.”
According to him, the Executive Committee sincerely appreciates each and every one of the residents for their courage, commitment, and unwavering support, adding that their solidarity has been a source of great strength and comfort.
“This struggle is about protecting our rights, safeguarding the value of our properties, and preserving the integrity of our estate for the future. Over the years, there have been repeated attempts by certain individuals to create access through our estate, particularly via the waterfront, in a bid to establish another estate,” he noted.
He recalled that in each of those attempts, the residents had consistently and successfully resisted them, assuring that they would continue to do so in every lawful and legitimate manner.
He disclosed that management has instituted a suit at the federal high court on this matter.
“We remain committed to working tirelessly to ensure our community is defended and preserved for generations to come,” he assured further.
